"Japanisch Kochen in Deutschland" is the German version of the Japanese home cooking book by Mahoroba Publishing, based in München. We were tasked with redesigning the original book that was in Japanese, to appeal to their European audience. We wanted the cookbook to be image-oriented in order to make it easier for German readers who are unfamiliar with Japanese cuisine, and for this reason kept the layouts simple. For the book's title and main typography, we chose a typeface by German type designers to support the partnership of cultures at the heart of this book.
